Scholarship Details
Sending text messages takes drivers’ eyes off the road, their hands off the wheel, and their minds off the task of driving and paying attention to traffic, which can lead to serious accidents. To spread the message about the dangers of texting and driving, Marks & Harrison is proud to sponsor its inaugural Driver Safety Scholarship Contest. Our law firm will award three scholarships to 2025 graduating seniors in Virginia and Washington D.C. and/or rising freshmen in Virginia and Washington D.C. colleges and universities who create an original written or video essay explaining the dangers of texting and driving and practical steps to ending this momentous problem.
What can we do as a community to convey to young drivers that texting and driving leads to serious and avoidable accidents? We’re confident our young people have some good ideas. To enter the program, you must submit a written essay with at least 1,000 words or a video essay between 5-6 minutes in length. We are seeking thoughtful, well-researched ideas that offer a fresh take on the dangers of texting and driving. The tone can be light-hearted or serious, as long as it is informative, helpful, and original.
As a law firm with a history in Virginia and Washington DC that stretches back more than 100 years, Marks & Harrison is dedicated to making our communities safe places to live and raise families. We recognize our young people are our communities’ most precious resource, and we are committed to helping students receive a college education to pursue their career goals.
We wish you the best of luck and look forward to receiving your scholarship program entries.
